Dental Implant Financing

The need for dental implant financing continues to grow as the procedure gets more costly. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root placed in the jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. This is an option for those who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, injury, accident, or some other reason.

TWO MAJOR TYPES

Endosteal – in the bone implant, it is the most common type of implant. Screws, cylinders, or blades surgically placed in the jaw bone. The implant holds one or more prosthetic teeth. Used as an alternative for those with bridges or removable dentures.

Subperiosteal– on the bone implant, this implant is placed on top of the jaw with the metal frame work’s post protruding through the gum to hold the prosthesis. This procedure works well for those who are unable to wear conventional dentures.

dental implant financing

Many patients will need dental implant financing as the prices are expensive. Shopping around can save money and many practices are guilty of offering introductory rates that gets patients in the door only to find out the price is much higher. Often, expensive extractions are needed and a period of time with a temporary flipper are needed before the implant can be done.

The price range for a dental implant can be anywhere from $2,000 to $4,000 but prices can soar higher than that if additional dental work must be done beforehand.

OTHER DETERMINING COST FACTORS

  • Patient’ physical condition
  • The dental implant¬†manufacturer and type as well as the crown manufacturer and type
  • What kind of imaging will be involved (X-rays and CTs which are more expensive)
  • The size of the case
  • Complexity of the case

Not all dentist engage in cosmetic dentistry or oral and maxillofacial surgery so a patient must do their homework.
